How is Ultra Violet Radiation used in the water purification process?
The use of Ultra Voilet Radiation (also referred to as UV Radiation) can be used to purify water. This uses a different method to others mentioned in our FAQ’s, as it acts as a germicidal treatment for the water. By passing the water through both a 185nm and 254nm bandwidth of light, the effect is a reduction of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) in the water. We can also supply Total Organic Carbon reference standards if required – please contact us for further information.

By using the method of Ultra Voilet Radiation it is possible to reduce the Total Organic Carbon to level lower than 5ppb (parts per billion). At The-Water-Company.com we use a combination of purification processes to manufacture very pure, pharmaceutical grade water. By using a Deionisation process (twin bed), UV Treatment and then a Microporous Filtration, we can produce extremely good quality water, including water of a pharmaceutical grade standard. Please note however the we do not supply water which is suitable for injection (often abbreviated to as Water For Injection, or WFI).
