The number of uses for laboratory water is almost infinite, but to touch on some of the most popular water applications concerning laboratory water, here is a list of some of the most common:

Laboratory Water for Aqueous Concentrations

Aqueous concentrations can take many different forms.  They may include Indicator Solutions, such as Bromophenol Blue, Bromothymol Blue, Methyl Orange, Methyl Red and Methylene Blue.  They might also include Standard Solutions, which include molar acids (all acids dissolve in water, for example, Hydrochloric Acid) and bases (for example, Sodium Hydroxide).  A further option for laboratory water could include pH Buffer Solution.  pH Buffer Solutions are sometimes colour-coded for easy identification.

Laboratory Water for Use in Calibration

Apparatus has to be serviced and calibrated regularly to ensure optimum performance.  Laboratory water can be used for both standard solutions, like acids and bases, and also as a blank value, to give a reading of zero.

Laboratory Water for Testing and Analysis of Water Soluble Elements

If you want to test any water soluble elements, you can dissolve them in high purity laboratory water and test for them.  For example, soil testing is a common practice which tests for any water soluble metals which might be present in a sample.  These could include elements such as zinc, mercury, iron, lead and aluminium.

Laboratory Water for Washing Glassware

As the levels of impurities in the high quality water we provide are so low, people often use our products to clean laboratory glassware and equipment, such as thermometers, pipettes and titration equipment.

Please note this is only a small selection of many different water applications for laboratory water.  There are many more uses both in and out of the laboratory.  We have a section on our website dedicated to analysis water, but it might be that another of our products is more suitable.  If you would like to discuss your specific application with a technical advisor, and identify which is the most suitable product in our range for you, please call us on 0800 990 3257.
